Showcasing high street support to retailers through a community driven pop up shop.


The Challenge.

eBay’s purpose is to empower people and create opportunity. Through their global marketplace, millions of people all over the world can connect to buy and sell the items they love. However, currently online tech giants are being vilified for the decline of the high street and small shops – eBay wanted to address this, demonstrating that it’s a platform that actually helps these communities.

Real World Thinking.

eBay had an existing scheme called Retail Revival, where the brand partners with cities and communities to support local enterprises and give them access to a global marketplace, so our challenge was to bring this to Wolverhampton. The execution had to show how eBay support local retailers as well as drive sales of local products to shoppers.

The Execution.

We wanted our creative response to show that eBay is the perfect environment for local businesses to flourish, and so the ‘Home Grown’ pop-up was born. Taking inspiration from classic greenhouse cues the venue was dressed with glazed panels, pots and plants – but utilised stylised pallets, crates, and wooden stands for versatile product displays. These hand-picked businesses were invited to attend the pop-up to pitch their products to shoppers, with each range pre-promoted in the area with eBay seed packets and a dedicated plaque within the venue itself – outlining the human story behind the businesses and of course a scanable QR code that took shoppers through to the eBay product page.


The Results.
